How might we create a unique experience that allows customers to shop in-store and online?

Evolving a product finding app to a online shopping experience
With the Product Finder App, Bunnings solved their #1 customer problem: where can I find an item in this massive warehouse?
Customers loved this app, but they also wanted to be able to order products through the app too. I led a project to transform the Product Finder app into the Bunnings app. 

With a unique We went through several rounds of testing to discover the mental model of a customer and how they delineate in-store shopping from online shopping

Our biggest insight from our testing is that customers were product oriented - they decided what product they needed before they made any decisions about how they’d get it. This core insight crafted the experience.

Order products for Click & Collect or Delivery
Add products to your cart and check out with either click & collect or delivery. If you’ve linked your active OnePass account, you’ll receive free delivery on eligible orders.
Collect Flybuys points and save receipts
Scan your digital card at the register to collect your Flybuys points and save your receipts in-store.

Create Project Lists and see where items are located
Plan a trip in advance by adding products to a project list and view the fastest path on the interactive map to pick them up.
The outcome
We launched the online shopping features in May 2023 and have grown our customer base and now turning over $1M in sales every month with only organic growth. We look forward to pushing this with marketing to create an even bigger customer base.
